Midtown Plaza was first constructed in 1954 and was home to the Sears corporation. In later years the plaza was transformed into a first-floor retail shopping center and second floor tenant office space. Though the building had much character for its time in the late 1970's and early 1980's, it was time for an upgrade to the 20th century. The current renovation consisted of a full exterior building overhaul bringing the building up to a much more modern look while improving in all areas of the impact codes.
